How to Install a Barrel Extension
A screw on the barrel extension is a device that screws onto the barrel of a shotgun to extend its length."screw on barrel extension" It is similar in function to the older style pump guns, however they work with all types of BBs and are great for use in all situations from target shooting to competition shooting. Some models are electric, but many are gas operated. The screw on the barrel extension is either threaded (by means of a removable metal or steel screw) or have a threaded insert to allow it to be threaded.

The other is long, which is better for large game and to be used for long distance shots. It will also expand... until it almost covers your entire front end, which is important if you are hunting or fishing. If you do need to shoot over some terrain, the long screw will expand as far as possible.
Screw on barrel chokes are an option, also called "griptech" or "tapered"."screw on barrel extension" They will either screw on to the muzzle, or have a rubberized expanding band on the inside of the barrel. Griptech choke will usually be very rigid, and provide very tight control over the gun. They will not expand, but rather, they will contract when shot, and expand again upon firing. This will give you a very consistent shot and keep you from having to cocking the gun repeatedly, which can be messy. Tapered choke tend to be more effective in hunting conditions, where fast shooting is needed, but can be harder to use in close quarters.
Screw on barrel extensions are available in both calibers, and lengths. The most common length is the 6 inch, which is about one third the length of the rifle's bolt. An additional two inches on either side can be used for an olsenjb tapered choke, or a conventional rubber or synthetic expander. Some shooters prefer to have both types of chokes, but a 6 inch screw on barrel extension on either side of the bolt can make the gun very stable and less prone to cycling. This is a great addition to either upper or lower reciever calibers.
If you do choose a two port, Vipers have two different styles of screw on barrel extensions, as well. A one-choke, or stainless steel, screw on barrel extension can be attached to the left hand side of the bolt, or to the right. For shooters using a Vipers modular system, this feature can really come in handy, as some modular systems will not accept certain calibers, such as the 7.2 mm Blackout, or the 7.2 mm Remington.
If you are considering installing a suppressor onto a firearm that uses a silencer, the best way to ensure that it is installed properly is to purchase a compatible aftermarket barrel extension kit. Most aftermarket vendor models are compatible with virtually all manufacturer parts, although there are a few outliers. For example, while PSE (points of sale) compatible parts are typically sold at about 50% less the cost of an OEM silencer, they typically do not install properly. PSE parts are prone to contacting other points on the firearm, often on the top of the barrel, causing damage to the firearm's crown. If you are unsure whether or not your particular silencer is compatible with your aftermarket barrel, it may be a good idea to check with the manufacturer, as they should be able to provide you with the proper information.
